Hartley is celebrating after the release of the latest listening figures (RAJAR Quarter 1 2013).

The radio boss has seen another rise for three of his four radio stations, meaning more record figures according to RAJAR (Radio Joint Audience Research).

Since the Bolton born broadcaster, 30, joined as manager a year ago, Radio Ceredigion’s audience has almost doubled, while Radio Carmarthenshire and Scarlet FM has seen an increase of 8,000 people tuning in each week.

The rise in listeners takes the stations past the record breaking figures delivered under Carl’s management for the last three months of 2012.

Meanwhile Radio Pembrokeshire – the station on which Carl hosts the afternoon show has seen an increase in the number of hours that listeners are listening and maintained its position as the county’s most listened to radio station.

Carl Hartley alongside his Radio Pembrokeshire colleague David Baker hosted the prestigious Pembrokeshire Tourism Awards at The Beggar’s Reach Hotel.

The event to celebrate the best of the Counties tourism businesses saw the shakers and movers of the industry come out in their droves.

Businesses entered in the awards are independently judged and shortlisted to find a Gold, Silver and Bronze winner in 14 categories looking at all aspects of the industry from services, suppliers and marketing, to events, activities, food and accommodation

The awards celebrate the hard work of those serving the county’s visitors.

The 30 year old Bolton born radio presenter entered the room to the 1960’s top 10 hit the Wanderer, which his favourite football team Bolton Wanderers used to run out. This followed his Irish colleagues arrival on the stage to Riverdance.

Hartley said “I am honoured to be asked to host such a great event. Tourism plays a massive role in the local economy. The winners tonight do great work in making visitors stay in Pembrokeshire memorable and fun. This encourages them to come and tell others how great the County is.”

“It’s been a great night and everyone looked like they had fun!”

Broadcaster Carl Hartley is set to take on one of Britain’s most gruelling marathons.

The presenter, who turned 30 last September, has signed up to run the Snowdonia Marathon in October.

He made the announcement during his Radio Pembrokeshire breakfast show this morning.

He told listeners that the idea came about after he was tweeted by Mark Whitby, a Radio Pembrokeshire listener, challenging him to run the 26.2 miles.

The Snowdonia marathon began in 1982, the same year Hartley was born, and in 2007 and 2011 was voted Britain’s Best Marathon.

The demanding and scenic route around Wales and England’s highest peak can push the most elite marathon runner, so a novice like Hartley will have his work cut out if he is to complete the event on Saturday 27th October.
